Have you noticed how many kiosks show up in your favorite mall? And almost everything sells mobile phones. Teens can actually design their own graphics and have airbrushed graphics on the face of the phone itself. They face a plate and an antenna that lights up in every ring. Simply stop by the other kiosks in your mall, you'll understand what I mean. In a hate Los Angeles Times article, they stated that teenagers with cell phones averaged about 16%. I think in 2005, it would be more than an average of 50% or even more.
The smart phone seems to be a great security feature for parents. They can now 'connect' with their child 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year. And of course, this allows the child to call 911 if an emergency arises. And now with GPS Location Sensitivity feature, your child will be in an emergency with a distance of ten feet from the location of the phone. Of course, with all these technologies and additional security, there are some problems.
The school system is in shambles with phone calls in the middle of class. And there was always a problem with the call in the hallway and the bathroom that went on and on. Most schools adopt a policy of "using it during school - you lose it". This has become a real burden for school administrators. Their parents as far as bringing the phone back to the children. So this is not something they can take and save until the end of the year. They should return the phone at the end of the day. This is usually quite a barrier to keep them away during school hours. If children and most adults are new to mobile phones may remember to put their phone in silent or vibrating alert, this problem will never happen.
This is the same problem with many other public places including cinema. Of course, it's easier for some people to wear a belt to put their phone on the vibration, then you still know if the phone rings or not, no matter if you answer it or not. But for most women, they usually do not wear belts, this creates a problem. If the phone is in any mode other than "ring", they never know, (without checking from time to time), if they miss the call or not. So normally, the phone is left in "ring" mode and possibly on load, sitting somewhere at the bottom of the bag. Even with a wallet with a small pocket on the outside for the phone, the phone still lags in "ring" mode.
